The ideal place for family day out. One of the largest country parks in the region. Situated at the heart of Nene Park, its varied landscapes make it the favourite destination for thousands of visitors throughout the year.

Whether you’re looking to walk, cycle, ride a train, sail a boat, enjoy a cup of tea in the café or go fishing. Ferry Meadows is the place to explore endless meadows, lakes and woodland – all less than three miles from Peterborough city centre.

We run a packed events programme and education programme throughout the year, offering the chance to learn new skills and to discover more about this incredible Park.

As well as offering a great day out for friends, families and schools Ferry Meadows is also the perfect place to organise an event, take part in a team day with colleagues or volunteer.

Easy to get to and open 365 days a year, make Ferry Meadows your next great day out.

Nene Valley Railway is the UK’s leading international steam attraction, based at Wansford Station, and covering the stations of Overton (for Ferry Meadows), Orton Mere, Yarwell Junction, and Peterborough.

As both a living heritage railway, which is tended to by its loyal band of volunteers and a thriving attraction for the public to enjoy all year round. Nene Valley Railway offers the chance to experience the thrill of riding a steam engine; learn about the railway’s history; and explore the picturesque surroundings of the Nene Valley area.

Come and enjoy a fun, healthy day out at Ferry Meadows Country Park, located on the western edge of Peterborough. There’s so much to experience and exploring the park by bike is the best way to get around. Pedal along miles of traffic-free paths, discover the three children’s play areas, go bug hunting, picnic on the parkland or savour the homemade delights of the excellent cafes within the park – you can even catch the cycle-friendly Nene Valley steam train.

In the heart of Peterborough city centre in Cambridgeshire, bordering the River Nene and the Nene Valley Railway, is Railworld, a train museum and conservation project that’s the culmination of one man’s 25-year vision.

Inspired by the visionary wildlife havens created by Perkins Engines at their nearby site during the 1990s, Brian Pearce MBE – one of Railworld’s founding fathers and a passionate conservationist – has, aided by legions of volunteers, companies, groups and individuals, spent the past 25 years turning three acres of a derelict, former power station coal yard into a scenic wildlife habitat that’s home to over 200 species of flora and fauna. In addition, Brian and his industrious helpers have created a 6,000 sq ft environment centre, complete with giant solar powered rotating globe, an elliptical viewing platform, classrooms and a state-of-the-art energy management system.
